Ok, so Week 6 and Week 7 were not so great weeks for my diet. I've been getting lazy with tracking what I eat and giving into eating out with friends too much. That being said, I'm still down overall, so I didn't get too far off track. Tomorrow is when I find out the results for Week 8..
I'm excited actually.. but I'm not going to get my hopes up too much.. Don't want to set myself up for disaster! However, I've been getting back on track this week. I've been careful with what I'm eating and making an effort to go to the gym more. I really really really hope I lost something. I'm tempted to jump on the scale upstairs to take a peek of what the results might be...... but I won't do that. It won't be accurate until I officially weigh in.
Cross your fingers everyone!

OUTSIDE LANDS!
Outside Lands 2011is the best music festival I've ever been to! I don't know if its the San Francisco culture or the awesome food, great bands, wine!, or the cool booths that made it great. It was such a refreshing atmosphere. Granted, by the end of it, I was totally and completely exhausted (still feeling the effects 1 week later).
Best performance I will give to MUSE. They headlined Saturday Night. It was such a great show. Everyone was so into the music and the ambiance of the performance, you almost didn't want it to end!
Worst performance goes to Big Boi. It really wasn't his fault that the DJ's laptop wouldn't sync with the equipment on stage.. but to have your Rep come out after your audience has been waiting 1.5 hours for you and say "instead of giving you a half ass show, we'll give you no show at all." That was just insulting. I mean, people were there waiting for you, you could have at least come out and say something yourself. One song maybe? Or how about this, you're a RAPPER you don't NEED beats to rap... Or is that concept to old school? Kudos to Dave Chappelle for kicking a beach ball into the crowd for the first time in his career though.
Performance that I surprisingly liked is MAJOR LAZER. You wouldn't know it from his weird videos on Youtube.. but this guy killed it. People were flocking to the stage because he just made it so much fun. As we were walking up to the stage one guy said "Now THAT looks like a party!" There was just so much good energy that he created. I was glad my boyfriend made me go check it out.
ANYWAY... I'm definitely going next year. It was way too good of an event to miss.. In fact, I feel bad for those that didn't get to go. So what if you don't know all the bands! Its not all about who you know. I say, as long as they perform well, its worth seeing.

Playing Blog Catch Up...
So the last few weeks have flown by. I had a birthday, went to a family reunion trip, went to outside lands and hit my 5% weightloss goal.
Seems like a lot, but lets start from the Birthday.
So, for weeks I was trying not to get excited for my birthday. I knew it wasn't going to be as great as I wanted it to be. My boyfriend wasn't going to be able to come up for LA and my girls were all busy with other things. I should be used to this. My birthday weekend has always been notorius with conflicting schedules. Anyway, I was just trying to make the most of things. I asked my family to go to diner and I was going to try to be fine with that. I mean, some people don't even get that right? Well.. when the day came... I was soooo sad. I was so upset that my boyfriend couldn't come up that it pretty much made me a sad birthday girl for most of the day. My mom tried to cheer me up and take me with her grocery shopping and lunch, but it didn't help. Finally, in the afternoon, while I was waiting for everyone to get ready to go, I just had enough. I sat on the couch in my living room and was sulking (like the brat that I am). I almost decided to cancel the whole thing... Little did I know that my boyfriend decided to surprise me by saying he wasn't going to be able to make it, but then driving all the way up here from Los Angeles! I couldn't believe it. No one has successfully surprised me on my birthday before and I feel so lucky that I have a boyfriend that was cunning enough to do so. Of course, when I saw him I thought I was dreaming, but when it finally sunk it that he was there, I was the happiest girl in the world! Kudos to my better-than-perfect boyfriend and my family for an awesome surprise.
A few days later was the 2nd Annual Yosemite Family Reunion. So much fun! We rented a 3 story cabin that was right next to the river. There were about 25 people there at one time with ages ranging from a few months to almost 60! We had tons of good Filipino food, outdoor karaoke, mah jong, alcohol board games and wii game tournaments. We spent a good amount of time in the river outside the house too. One of those days, we went into the park and biked around the Valley with the cousins. It was an all around great time. What made it even better was that there was absolutely no internet or cellphone service at the cabin. We were forced to hang out with each other. In a good way of course!
So throughout all of that crazyness, I still was able to hit my 5% Weightloss goal. It was so exciting to finally make it. I know it doesn't seem like much, but after trying so many different ways of trying to lose weight, it feels great. Weight Watchers is definitely the way to go. I think in general it just makes me more aware of what I'm eating and how much. It's all about portion control. I can satisfy my cravings by trying things, but I don't have to go crazy with it. I've also made more of an effort to stay moving throughout the day. It just feels good that all the work is paying off. =)

Weight Watchers Week 3 Recap
I'm so excited to say i've lost another 2 lbs! That means total weight loss so far is 5.4 lbs!
I can't believe I actually lost weight this past week. I went to a dinner, I had the College reunion, lotts of drinking and not enough exercise. That just means that the "diet" itself is working. And I feel healthier too! I'm so proud of myself for eating veggies and fruits. I've become so much more aware of what I'm eating and the amounts I am eating. But at the same time, I'm still satisfied with what I choose to ingest. I don't find myself wanting more.
Next milestone is 5% weight loss goal. I'm even more motivated now to make it!

5 Year Reunion!
Just got back from my first College reunion! yay! Not sure why they do it every 5 years instead of every 10, but I'm not complaining. It was so much fun. Almost like I never left!
Well, a little different. We're all older and starting to really sound like grown ups. Some people are married, some are having babies, some have been traveling. It was fun to catch up with everyone. The nice part is the people I didn't want to see there didn't show up. That made it even better! Might sound mean, but lets just say the last year of my college experience was not fun and those people were a huge part of it.
Anyway, good to be back home. I miss the college years, but I'm so happy to be moving on with my life.

I miss my Sunshine
I miss my Sunshine...
days go by without it
it makes me sad
can I survive the next few weeks?
Of course I can, I have to
Don't think about it
It makes me sad
make the days go by faster
make it so the time without it doesn't hurt
just keep going
keep busy
stay on track
don't let the hurt show
don't let the sadness spiral
I will see my Sunshine again soon

MooShoo Lettuce Cups with Peanut Sauce
Menu for tonight's girls night is MooShoo Lettuce Cups with Peanut Sauce.
As long as I stick to the recipe, it will be about 6 points per serving! 1 serving is two lettuce cups. Doesn't that sound good? I'm excited. I will take pictures tonight and update so you can see how it turned out.
Hope the Girls like it!

Crazy Busy Couple of Days
Its been a really busy couple of days.
I've realized a huge challenge with the new diet is eating around my schedule. July is especially busy for some reason. I started another class for my Master's degree. Its a CPA exam prep course which is very brutal. On top of that, I have work and meetings and trying to spend time with my loved ones. Almost all my weekends have been booked since a month ago! I might have to be MIA for a couple events if I'm going to survive this course though....
Anyway, the busy schedule makes it hard to count points. Everyone wants to meet up and eat out and/or catch up over drinks. I have had to plan more than normal to make sure I stay within my daily points values. Its definitely not easy, but what else can I do? I still want a social life right?
Well, tonight I have come up with a way to stay on track and include some of my loved ones in the process. I'm hosting a "girl's night" with three of my besties (going to be missing one, but she has a good excuse) and cooking up a couple weight watchers recipes instead of ordering Pizza like we normally do. Should be fun!

Switched meeting nights
Class starts this week so I had to switch my weight watchers meeting night to Monday. It sucks since u already made relationships with people in my other meeting. But I guess the coach is a little better.
So, since last Thursday I've lost 0.2lbs. Not much but at least I lost something! I'm trying to stay positive. It's only been half a week.

Making up for Wedding Buffet Binge
Ok, so yesterday I had a wedding to go to. As far as food was concerned, I did pretty well and stayed within my daily point range with food. However, since it was a wedding and there was alcohol. I went way over my points because of the alcohol.
So, today, I worked out more than usual to make up for it. Fruit in the morning for breakfast then off to the gym for about an hour. 30 min elliptical "fat burn" and 30 minutes of interval training. Mainly squats and ab work. Then I came home for lunch and had some more of my Layered Mexican Chicken with a side of Salsa.
After about 30 min, I took my cute little dog for a 45 minute walk at a local park. The terrain is hilly, so it was a good workout for him (and me). I finally feel better about binging at the wedding.
Time to get back on track!

Layered Mexican Chicken Recipe

Ok, so I don't think I'm "allowed" to post the recipe but I can post pictures!
This was the first weight watchers recipe I have tried. Really easy and its one of the recipes that are supposed to be good to refrigerate and eat throughout the week. This is good for me since I never feel like I have enough time to cook.
On the left is the dish and on the right is some medium salsa to go with it. Total on this plate is 15 points (2 servings). I was hungry and I had about 15 points leftover for the day, so I had 2 servings instead of one. Normally, it would be a total of 7 points. I had a couple friends over to try it with me. They enjoyed it too. Yay for my first success at making a weight watchers recipe!

Weight Watchers Journey Has Begun
So, after some disheartening Doctor's appointments and slowly watching my weight inch closer and closer to the "overweight" category, I have decided to join weight watchers.
Why weight watchers versus every other diet plan out there? Well, I've obviously been researching diets and "trying" them out for a couple years now. What Weight Watchers had that others didn't was options. The program promotes meeting daily health guidelines and also "eating right" without depriving yourself. Its all about portion control and realizing that your body is hungry. Stay full all day on healthy stuff (like fruits and veggies) and don't over eat.
Today is day 2 of week 2. My goal is to lose 32 pounds. Yesterday was my weigh in. I have already lost 3.2 pounds! Yay! Doesn't seem like a lot, but its a very healthy weight loss number. They say that "healthy" weight loss is 2-3 pounds a week. However, I know I could have lost more. I only worked out twice last week!
One realization I've had this week is that I actually like fruits and vegetables. I have to admit that I was a self proclaimed carnivore and I thought that incorporating fruits and veggies would be really difficult because of that. But its not. Actually, for most of my meals, I don't have meat and I'm still satisfied. At the same time, because of such a drastic change in my eating habits... I might relapse, so this week I'm going to work on cooking for myself and incorporating MEAT. Yes, meat has more WW points, but we'll see.
Overall I'm excited!
